First Edition Hard Backs, unusual to find in four volumes. Bound in the publisher's original cloth although sound does show some surface wear and discolouration with the residue of a removed label to the front of volume one. Spines a little sunned with discolouration to volume four. Internally the binding is tight. Previous owners' inscriptions to the front free endpaper of volume two, ink stamp to the title and verso of the title page. The prelims to volume one are a little grubby with toning to the endpapers. Pages however are generally clean to all four volumes. Volume I, by Walter Raleigh, published1922, pp.xix + 489, Volume II, by H.A. Jones, published 1928, pp. xviii + 508 and folding map at rear, Volume III by H.A. Jones, published 1931, pp. xxi + 443 with folding maps and diagrams, Volume IV by H.A. Jones, published 1934, pp xix + 484 with folding maps and diagrams. Overall a good set.
