Bound in the original green decorative bevelled boards with bright gilt titling to spine and upper board. Spine rubbed and bumped to top and tail. Browning to spine and to edges of boards. Spotting to fore edge and to prelims. Illustrated with 8 colour plates with protective tissue guard (browned), and 128 b/w photographs depicting the best gardens in the Southern and Western counties. Frontispiece plate is becoming detached from contents. pp xxxvii + plates at rear.
