Illustrated by George Cruikshank, Halbot K. Browne (Phiz) and others. Set uniformly bound in half calf leather with marble boards. Gilt titling and simple tooled decoration to spine. The set is in need of restoration, spines are rubbed with heavy loss and scuffing of leather esp. to the raised bands and to top and tail. Many of the joints are cracked and the boards are very weak. In particularly poor condition are the following titles - Windsor Castle, cracked down the spine with numerous creases; Tower of London, very worn and rubbed to the spine with heavy loss of leather; Jack Sheppard, spine is split along the upper joint and across the title band, rear board is completely detached. Spines creased and cracked. Boards of all volumes are rubbed and scuffed to edges with some loss of the leather and bumping to the corners. All edges marble with marble endpapers.
