Hard Back Dated 1864. Half bound in black leather with marble paper covered boards. The boards and leather are rubbed and worn with some loss along the extremities. Spine is partly detached with a piece missing to the top and base. All edges of the text block marble. Previous owners' feint but neat inscription to the front end-papers and signature to the rear paste down. Beautifully illustrated with full page colour frontispiece and several wood engravings throughout, five folding maps present and intact. Pages toned with the occasional thumb mark and foxing otherwise clean. pp. xxii + 426. Overall a fair copy. A fascinating book. From Major Beeton's library.
