Presentation binding in full tree calf leather with gilded crest and border to front and rear as well as gilded lettering and intricately detailed panels. A little rubbing to edge of spine and spine bands. Marbled textblock, slightly dark. Stunning green marbled endpapers with prize plaque torn out leaving a few rips to the pasted down front endpaper. Small number in pencil and tiny previous bookseller stamp to verso of the front free endpaper. Pages remain bright and clean with occasional foxing. 350 lovely illustrations by the author. pp.xii+563. Overall condition very good.
