Hardback. Beautifully bound in rich burgundy leather with gilt titles to the front, raised bands with gilt titles and decoration to the spine and embossed detail to the rear. The leather is lightly worn to the corners and to the outer hinges of the spine otherwise the binding is in very good condition and the gilt still bright. All edges of the text block gilt. Brown endpapers which are slightly faded with presentation label to the front pastedown dated 1884. There is some foxing to the prelims, however, the pages are generally clean. Beautifully illustrated with each page of text encased in a countryside themed border with several engraved plates throughout. pp. xx + 700. Overall a stunning copy.
