The front and rear cloth boards show very minimal signs of wear, the front board retaining its partly gold gilt design very well. The spine is hardly worn, and the title and matching design remain clear. The top edge of the text block is in a striking red colour, the other edges of the pages appear very slightly faded. Housed in a simple slip case, with some slight markings and signs of wear. Beautifully illustrated front and rear end papers, with a map of Wales. Pages clean throughout, including numerous woodcut illustrations. pp. 268. Overall, a very good Folio Society copy of this nineteenth century translation of the Middle Welsh stories, compiled in the twelfth to thirteenth centuries, based upon oral traditions.
