18th manuscript notebook in old German bound in full contemporary tree calf with pocket to inner front cover, slightly worn. Original handwriting in ink detailing diary entires or notes from 1783 to 1818 as well as notes under the heading The Apothecaries' Weight, alchemical symbols, recipes (?), calculations, and lists. Binding is fragile with the spine very worn inclusing a rip. Owenership name and place to the front endpaper. The pages reveal beautiful handwriting with mild foxing and occasional blotches. Internal cracking despite no lose pages and functional bind. Evidence that some pages have been torn out, not many. Fore edge of the text block originally dyed red retains some its colour. No pagination. Fair.
