First edition. A lovely first edition in the original maroon paper covered boards with pretty paper onlay to the front. Free from any loss or restoration as can be common. Spine a little toned with slight loss to the base. Slight discolouration to the front and rear boards, although overall in good condition. Slight surface wear to the pictorial onlay to the front, however it remains intact. Silver titles to the front and spine. Same endpaper repeated four times. Previous owners neat inscription to the front pastedown. Binding a touch weak with cracking to the gutter. Contains 27 excellent single page colour plates. The pages are in a lovely clean condition, free from foxing. pp. 85. A very nice example of Beatrix Potter's third book.
