Hardback. Circa 1908, an early copy of a classic tale from Beatrix Potter. Published just one year after the first edition. Complete with the glassine wrapper which may be original although not printed. A very good copy bound in the original green paper with small pictorial paper onlay to the front. Titles printed in white to the front and spine. Two white dots appear in the o of 'Tom' and 'of' with the publisher name appearing to the base of the front board bordered by a white line. In very good condition protected by the glassine wrap, minor fading to the spine. The wrap is a little worn to the extremities with small pieces missing to the spine. Pictorial endpapers are free of any marks or inscriptions. Tiny bit of cracking to the internal hinge although the binding remains quite firm. Beautifully illustrated by Beatrix Potter with 27 colour plates, printed one side only, including frontispiece. Blank pages between each illustration. The pages are generally clean despite the occasional thumb mark. Overall a very good copy.
