Hardback. Circa 1909, published just one year after the first edition. Complete with a glassine wrapper which may be the original although not printed. The original green paper boards are in good condition with just a little bumping to the corners and slight darkening to the spine. Pretty pictorial paper on-lay to the front is clean and shows no wear. The glassine wrap is worn and chipped to the extremities. Pictorial endpapers are free of any previous owner's inscriptions or bookplates. Beautifully illustrated with 27 colour plates, including a frontispiece, by Beatrix Potter. The pages are very clean throughout despite the occasional thumb mark. Overall a good copy.
