Sotheby's Wilkinson & Hodge Auction Catalogue held on Monday the 15th June, 1908, and three following days at one o'clock precisely. Sir Thomas Phillipps, 1st Baronet was an English antiquary and book collector who amassed the largest collection of manuscript material in the 19th century. Sir Thomas Phillips died in 1872 with a large portion of his library divided up between the libraries of Berlin and Belgium with some of the residue sold to London Booksellers Philip and Lionel Robinson. They in turn sold the collection through their own published catalogues and through a number of Sotheby's sales. Volume II containing three sections, from 1908 to 1911 of 114, 151 and 186 pages. The pages are toned with the occasional pencil notation although clean throughout. A letter with headed title page "Yorkshire Archaeological Society" has been bound in regarding some items from the sale. Overall an unusual and scarce copy.
